  27.    By the way, I seem to have tried to build the 2009-11-20
  28. kit on my VMS V5.5-2 system, and had a bunch of trouble with
  29. %CC-I-IMPLICITFUNC, %CC-W-PTRMISMATCH, and so on.  Also, in
  30. ckvfio.c, defining NOCONVROUTINES does bypass the "#include
  31. <conv$routines.h>" directive, but apparently not the code
  32. which uses the conv$* functions, further down.  As I recall, I
  33. also spotted a comment somewhere (else?) which suggested that
  34. support for older VMS versions was not highly valued, so I
  35. didn't pursue it.  The evidence is on a disk I can't see now,
  36. but I suspect that it worked better on VMS VAX V7.3.
